Clasp prostheses - types and indications

Clasp prosthesis photoModern technologies offer a fairly large selection of prostheses to accommodate lost teeth and one of the most popular is byugelny. They consist of a metal frame on which artificial teeth and gums are placed. Their popularity is due to the fact that to install this design, there is no need to file healthy teeth, and they allow you to evenly distribute the load across the jaw when chewing food. Clasp prostheses will be the best option if your native jaw is loose tooth, as fastenings of a similar design when dressing immobilizes the teeth, thereby prolonging their life cycle.

Clasp prostheses have a removable frame of high strength, so their lifespan is rather long. Another undoubted advantage is that the design does not imply the closing of the palate in the mouth, so addiction to the prosthesis occurs much faster and discomfort during a conversation is reduced to a minimum.

Prosthetics byugelThe ability to remove the clasp dentures for thorough cleaning in all hard-to-reach places allows you to maintain their cleanliness and maintain oral hygiene. Such a construction will not allow the appearance of any foci of infection, which may occur in areas that are difficult to access, which are characteristic of artificial limbs that are not removed.

Clasp prosthetics is considered one of most efficient and comfortable compared to other removable designs. It is even used for the treatment of periodontal disease, the restoration of one or more teeth. But such a design can be installed only if you have your own healthy teeth, which act as a support for the skeleton.

Clasp prostheses are somewhat similar in function to other plastic acrylic, however, there are significant differences. The presence of a metal frame on which to attach the plastic base, can significantly reduce its thickness. Artificial teeth are attached to the base itself. All this allows greatly facilitate the prosthesis, reduce the volume of the structure, which makes it more convenient to use and easier addiction. This is especially felt on the front teeth, there is only a small arc of thin metal, and not a massive web like solid acrylic.

Indications

Byugel dentures are not suitable for everyone. As already written, the patient must have healthy teethon which it will be possible to fix the frame structure. Also, the structure can not be fixed in the absence of at least one extreme tooth in a row. In this case, the clasp dentures are not used. However, if desired, the problem is solved by installing implants on which the structure will be subsequently attached.

This type of prosthetics is also I use for the restoration and treatment of teeth. It will fit:

  • Prosthesis with locksIn the absence of one or several teeth. It allows you to restore the teeth that are located near the crevices, even if they are loose and prone to loss. Moreover, the design ideally closes even those crevices that are far apart from each other, strengthening other healthy teeth.
  • In the absence of lateral or front teeth.
  • With a weak enamel.
  • With high abrasion native teeth.
  • With periodontitis. The design reliably fixes healthy teeth with their increased mobility, which allows for the treatment of periodontitis for their restoration.

Varieties

The design of the prosthesisThe cost of a byugel design depends on many factors and primarily on its type and material of manufacture. Also, the price depends on the amount of work required to aesthetically and functionally restore patient's damaged jaw. Only a professional dentist will be able to tell you what kind of prosthetics you need and name the approximate cost of the work, as well as the price of the denture itself, when examining the oral cavity.

Dentures are distinguished by the type of their fixation on healthy teeth, they are of three types:

Consider the advantages and disadvantages of each of these species, as well as in which case and on which teeth the application of one type or another will be optimal.

Clamping

Prosthesis with clamps

Klammers are small branches from the main metal frame, which enclose healthy teeth, which serve as a support for the structure, which makes it possible to fix the prosthesis in the oral cavity very well.

This is one of the most popular types of anchorage since helps to restore teeth and fixes well the loose, in general, performs all the useful functions of the clasp dentures. The price of this type of fastening is lower, although significantly higher when compared with other acrylic dentures. The cost of the clasp dentures is influenced by the higher complexity of their manufacturing technology compared to plastic ones.

The disadvantage of clamp fixing can be called a not very good aesthetic appearance, since in some situations it is possible to install such a prosthesis in the oral cavity only by going to the front of the teeth. When a patient smiles, clasps will be visible, which, of course, will not give her beauty. However, this is all individual and depends on the location of healthy teeth, so sometimes clums can be installed almost imperceptibly.

Micro lock locking

Fixation of the prosthesis with micro locksThe frame attachment on the attachments is a fixation according to the type of lock, where one half of it is located on the byugel structure itself, and the second part is mounted on the abutment teeth (crowns are installed). When dressing a prosthesis, such micro-latches snap into place, which leads to a strong coupling with native teeth.

The undoubted advantages of this type of attachment is good fixationThe high aesthetics of the product does not weaken with time - such microlocks are completely invisible on the teeth, even in the smile line. Prostheses with this type of fastening of the frame have a rather long service life of at least six years, which positively distinguishes it from other prostheses, for comparison, the durability of acrylic prostheses varies between 2.5 and 4 years.

There are two types of micro locks:

  • Bolt
  • Friction

The most popular today are locks made in Germany, and the nominal "MK-1" (bolt) and Bredent (friction). Their cost is slightly more expensive than similar analogues, however, the price is equal to the quality and by putting good locks on your teeth, you will extend the life of your prosthesis.

The main and interrelated deficiencies of fixation on attachments are their high price and manufacturing complexity. If you are ready to pay a high price for such a design, make sure that your dentist and dental technician are qualified, as today it is considered one of the most high-tech in dental prosthetics and requires good professionalism of doctors.

Fixing on telescopic crowns

Clasp prosthesisWe use it quite rarely, this is due to the complexity of manufacturing such a prosthesis and the high qualification requirements of the dental technician and dentist, as well as availability of special equipmentAfter all, even a small deviation of the technology of manufacturing or using poor quality materials will lead to rather pitiable results.

This design is fixed on the abutment teeth or on implants using double telescopic crowns, while you can even rely on heavily loose teeth.

In our case, this prosthesis is used only with the unexpressed (or insufficiently pronounced) form of the native teeth, when it is not possible to fix another type of clasp prosthesis.

The cost of the clasp dentures

As already written, the price of the byugelnye design depends on many factors:

  • From the complexity of manufacturing (there are simple and complex).
  • From the type of fixation on the abutment teeth.
  • From the need to manufacture and install crowns.
  • From the complexity of the preparation of the jaw to install the prosthesis.
  • From the materials of manufacture of the prosthesis itself and separate locks.
  • From the pricing policy of the dental clinic and the work of the dentist.

Consider the approximate cost of clasp prosthetics today, depending on the type of fixation, which is the main indicator of the price of the prosthesis.

The price of the clasps. Depending on the complexity of the manufacture of the prosthesis and its purpose, klammerny structures are divided into:

  • Simple.
  • Complex
  • Splinting.

Splint prosthesis

The price of the first two types, depending on the clinic and the level of complexity, will vary today around 35–45 thousand rubles and above.

Spineal dentures are more complex, they are used for the treatment of periodontitis and for the restoration of strongly loose teeth. The design is a metal arc, which fits tightly to the inner surface of the dentition or individual teeth and will cost you between 45-60 thousand rubles.

Price for micro locks. A single-sided denture with micro-locks of the Bredent type will cost from 40–50 to 60 thousand rubles today. In this case, if necessary, double-sided prosthesis, this price will double. This cost includes the prosthesis itself, the price of locks and the installation of metal-ceramic crowns to which they are attached (two for a single-sided prosthesis and, accordingly, four for the entire oral cavity).

Locks of the type "MK-1" are considered to be better and more durable, but the price for them is higher, their installation will cost you more by 10-15 thousand compared to Bredent.

Price telescopic crowns. Because of its complexity, it is considered the most expensive type of prosthetics and starts from 55–65 thousand rubles.

It is worth remembering that the price includes absolutely all manipulations for the manufacture and fitting, taking impressions and preparing the jaw. The doctor should not charge you extra for this work. For any prosthesis, the clinic should provide a guarantee of at least two years, or even more, that, with quality material, it does not even make up half the life span of the partial denture.

Advantages and disadvantages

Clasp prosthetics today is considered one of the highest quality and effective. Dentures are well fixed on the teeth, help to restore loose, quite practical and have a high aesthetics. They do not need to be removed at night, the construction is lighter and not so massive as compared to plastic ones, but at the same time they are quite easy to maintain and clean, which prevents infections in the oral cavity.

The device of the prosthesis of the byugelDue to its shape and lightness, such dentures are practically do not change the patient's diction and facilitate the addiction to them, although it is quite long (about three weeks). At the same time, the high-quality materials from which the partial denture is made do not oxidize the oral cavity and eliminate the risk of stomatitis.

The service life is quite high compared to acrylic structures (from 5–7 years) while the possibility of breakage is reduced to a minimum due to the cast metal base.

But they also have drawbacks: in the case of an improper fit, clasps can rub the patient's gums, and if the load is too heavy, cracks can form in the crowns.

And, of course, they have quite high price compared to other plastic prostheses. However, if we take into account all the advantages of the clasp, as well as their increased service life, it is not surprising that today they are considered among the most popular, because the quality corresponds to the price.
